The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is a state accredited twenty four Law Enforcement agency through the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police, and is responsible for Law Enforcement within Scott County. The Sheriff’s Office is also responsible for tax collection, auto inspections, concealed weapon permits, courtroom security, and protection of judiciary members, civil and criminal process, and prisoner transport throughout the state.

 

 The Sheriff’s Office also assists victims with obtaining and executing Emergency Protective and Domestic Violence Orders. The SCSO Community Services Unit is responsible for conducting community block watch meetings, educating citizens in crime prevention methods. The CSU deals with domestic violence prevention, education and enforcement, anti-drug prevention and education in the community and schools. While these are the main duties of the Sheriff’s Office, the responsibilities of the agency continue to grow as a result of ongoing changes to Homeland Security policies.
